Biological Activities of Different Species of the Genus Phyllostachys

The Genus Phyllostachys (bamboo) is widespread all over the world. Through history, bamboo has been an important source of food and medicine in China South East Asia. Almost parts plant such as rhizome, culm bark shaving, shoots, leaves, roots seeds are having clinical applications. Recently, gained attention around world because its nutritive therapeutic values role it plays food, pharmaceutical cosmeceutical industry. Bamboo leaves shoots have tremendous potential can provide health care a safe eco-friendly way. In this review, we summarize most biological activities different species genus which found to include anticancer, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, hypolipidemic, hypoglycemic, antidiabetic, cardiovascular, prebiotic, melanin-biosynthesis-inhibition, anti-allergy anti-inflammatory activities. That could be contributed existence broad range bioactive compounds, flavonoids, phenolic glycosides, acids, glycosides sterols.
